What is a female deer?

A female deer is called a doe and is typically smaller than the male deer, or buck. Does have a reddish-brown coat with a white underbelly, while their antlers are generally smaller or absent altogether. They give birth to one to three fawns at a time, usually in the spring or early summer. Does are also known for being very cautious and vigilant, using their keen senses of hearing and smell to detect potential threats around them. They are herbivores and typically graze on grass, leaves, and other vegetation. Does can live up to 6 to 14 years in the wild, depending on the species.
